I am new and I have questions.
This is a place to find answers to frequently asked questions.

Is there a dress code?

At Spencer Christian Church, you’ll see as much variety in dress as you see in people. Some wear T-shirts and jeans . Others wear the more traditional Sunday attire. We don’t judge by appearances because we know that God is interested in what’s on the inside.

Once I arrive, where should I go first or when I have questions?

During our weekend services, you will be welcomed at the door by our friendly greeters.  They can direct you to our welcoming Guest Relations Team right inside the doors who will be able answer questions and help you and your kids know where to go.

What about my kids?

Yes, loving and safe kids’ programming is provided at all service times here at Spencer Christian Church. SCC KIDS is the ideal spot for infants through 5th graders. Kids’ classes are high energy, interactive, and age-appropriate.  You can also utilize the cry room (room 110) for crying or fussy children. If you need help finding it, just ask someone at the Guest Relations area.

What about my student?

On Sunday morning, 6th through 12th grade students enjoy classes, activities and special events that are designed to draw them into positive relationships and keep them coming back. The discussions and teaching – led by caring and positive adult role models – help students deal with the many pressures they face and guide them toward healthy choices. On Saturday evening this age group joins their parents. Check out the Student ministry page to learn ages for each service.

What are the times and lengths of worship gathering?

About 70 minutes. Service times are Saturday 5:30pm or Sunday 9:30 or 11am. You’ll want to arrive a few minutes early to get a good seat and a cup of coffee. You will have a chance to sing or listen to some music, hear some relevant teaching, and connect with God. Watch or listen to past teaching here.

What about music?

The purpose of our worship team is “to lead Spencer Christian Church in glorifying God in spirit and truth”.  Most Sunday morning services (9:30 or 11am) feature a full contemporary style worship team while Saturday evening service (5:30pm) is more of an unplugged contemporary worship style.  Watch or listen to a typical Sunday Service here.

What kind of church is this?

We are a church that is all about relationship, not just religion. Longer answer? Spencer Christian Church is a non-denominational church in the historical tradition of the Restoration Movement. We have a local group of elders who provide direction and oversight for the church. We have no hierarchy or any other religious body that influences what happens at Spencer Christian Church. Learn about What we believe by clicking here.

How do I become a member?

The “Connect Step Class” is the next logical step for you to take to learn more about membership and your path to joining the mission of Spencer Christian Church.  We hold this class quarterly.  Find out when the next class is scheduled or you can set up a meeting with Andy White, Minister of Discipleship.

What is Baptism?

Click here for a full statement on baptism. Simply put God’s way of allowing us to show externally what He is doing internally. Contact a minister or the church office to make arrangements for a public or private baptism.

What happens during communion time during worship gatherings?

Communion is the memorial Jesus gave to remind us of the price He paid – His life – for our sins. Anyone who is a follower of Christ is invited to participate.  Normally, there will be a communion meditation given while our servers distribute the emblems (Bread representing Christ’s broken body and the fruit of the vine – we use grape juice – representing Christ’s spilled blood on the Cross)  We are instructed to partake in a worthy manner so it is also a time for personal reflection and repentance. 1 Corinthians 11:26-29  Additionally, it is a beautiful moment when Christ’s Church has the opportunity to commune with Him and each other.

What happens during offering at worship gatherings?

As Christ followers, we give an offering out of love to support God’s work through His Church. There will be an offering plate passed but most folks simply give online. Guests should not feel obligated to give.
