Our Calling - "Loving God... Loving People... Serving Both in Christ (Matthew 22:37-39)"
SCC's overall evangelistic concern is global. But our principal focus for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ is right here at home in Spencer County. It's our desire to reach and disciple the unchurched families and individuals of this area. We hope to accomplish this by seeing those who are without Christ come into a relationship with Him and grow their devotion to Him.
We also hold that every believer is a minister, gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve, for the benefit of the body and its ministry. Every believer is responsible to be a witness of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Every believer may not have the spiritual gift of teaching the Word, but every believer is responsible to share with those in their circle of influence out of their personal style what a change Jesus Christ can make in a person's life and eternity.
Out of our focus to share Jesus with those who do not know him, and to enable those who do to mature in their walk and faith comes our desire to develop a growing, mature body of believers as described in the book of Acts. We are working to build a church body like the one described in Acts 2 where they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, the breaking of bread, fellowship, and prayer.
